How you will learn:

This programme is designed for aspiring or current Skills Development Facilitators who need to gain practical, recognised experience in a short period of time. It combines expert-led guidance with flexible, blended learning to help you apply what you learn, immediately and effectively.

Throughout this programme, you will complete the following modules designed to build both theoretical understanding and practical application of skills development facilitation:

Understand the legislative framework, key responsibilities, and strategic function of the SDF in the occupational learning system.

📊 Module 2: Conducting a Training Needs Analysis
Learn how to identify skills gaps through workplace analysis and stakeholder engagement to determine appropriate learning outcomes.

📝 Module 3: Developing a Workplace Training & Development Plan
Gain the skills to compile a Workplace Skills Plan (WSP) aligned to organisational goals and sectoral requirements.

🔄 Module 4: Coordinating Skills Development Interventions
Discover how to plan, implement, and manage structured learning interventions that improve workforce capacity.

🗂 Module 5: Skills Development Administration and Reporting
Learn how to manage documentation, track learner progress, and ensure compliance with reporting requirements (e.g. ATR submissions).

Explore techniques to build support for continuous learning and encourage knowledge sharing across teams and departments.

Entry Requirements

To enroll in this qualification, you should:

✔ Have Communication, Mathematical Literacy, and Computer Literacy at NQF Level 4 (e.g. Matric or equivalent)
✔ Be currently working in or aspiring to work in a training, HR, or skills development role
✔ Have access to a workplace environment where you can complete practical activities and assessments
✔ Be able to participate in online sessions and submit assignments electronically

What to Expect from the Assessment Process:

Your journey to certification includes the following assessment steps:

✔ Formative Assessment:
Completed throughout the programme through activities, reflections, and submissions that demonstrate your understanding and application of the content.
✔ Portfolio of Evidence (PoE):
You’ll compile real-world documents, reports, and task-based evidence aligned to your SDF responsibilities. This will form your formal submission for assessment.
✔ Final Integrated Summative Assessment (FISA):
Conducted within 3 months of completing the training. This includes a final evaluation of your PoE and may include an interview or additional evidence review.

Janelle Gravett

Education, training & development practitioner

Janelle has been involved in the skills development area in industry sectors such as hospitality, travel, mining, manufacturing, business process outsourcing and services (BPS & O) and education and skills development.

She has a wealth of experience in learning and development methodologies and is an expert in the skills development legislation. ​ She is an Assessor, Moderator and Skills development Facilitator and works with a number of different SETAs.​

She has been part of the QCTO occupational qualification development team for SDF Administrator and Practitioner and part of the development team for the Contact Centre manager Occupational qualification. Currently Janelle is part of the CEP team for the development of the Occ Qualification for Sales and Marketing. ​
