This course follows a Blended Learning approach over a 12-month period, combining theoretical knowledge, practical application, and structured workplace experience to ensure deep learning, professional competence, and readiness to deliver effective occupational training in the workplace.

This qualification equips occupational trainers with the knowledge, skills, and workplace experience needed to deliver structured learning interventions in real work environments. Upon completion, learners will be able to assess training needs, adapt and prepare learning materials, facilitate effective learning, and evaluate learner performance using provided assessment tools.

You’ll develop the ability to address learner needs, overcome barriers to learning, and align training interventions with workplace demands and national standards. Whether you're training artisans, operators, or entry-level professionals, you will be able to plan and deliver relevant and engaging occupational learning.

The qualification supports professionalisation in workplace learning and provides a foundation for further development in the field of occupational training and development.

Gain a foundational understanding of the occupational training environment, your role as a trainer, and the broader context of skills development in South Africa.

🔍 Module 2: Learner Needs Assessment
Identify learner profiles, assess barriers to learning, and adapt training approaches to suit different workplace contexts and individual learning needs.

🛠️ Module 3: Prepare for a Learning Intervention
Adapt and align training materials, resources, and plans to meet learner and organisational requirements, ensuring relevance and accessibility.

🗣️ Module 4: Deliver a Learning Intervention
Facilitate learner-centred training using practical methods that engage, motivate, and support learners in applying new knowledge and skills.

📊 Module 5: Evaluation of Competence
Gather evidence, use provided tools to assess competence, make fair judgments, and report on learner performance in alignment with workplace and qualification standards.

Entry Requirements

To enroll in this qualification, you should:

✔️ You have a minimum of NQF Level 4 qualification
✔️ You have technical or occupational expertise in the field in which you plan to train
✔️ You are currently working, or plan to work, as a trainer in your area of expertise
✔️ You have the communication, literacy, and organisational skills needed to support learners in the workplace
✔️ You are prepared to deliver training in a practical, hands-on learning environment

What to Expect from the Assessment Process:

✔️ Internal Assessments:
After each module, you will complete assessment activities aligned to programme outcomes. These include workplace-based tasks, written submissions, and knowledge application exercises.

✔️ Portfolio of Evidence (PoE):
You’ll compile a structured PoE that demonstrates your ability to prepare, deliver, and evaluate occupational training. This includes training plans, materials, learner feedback, and assessment records.

✔️ Facilitated Preparation Sessions:
Facilitators will guide you through online contact sessions to help you prepare for assessments and align your workplace experience with qualification requirements.

✔️ External Integrated Summative Assessment (EISA):
Once your internal requirements are completed, you’ll complete the EISA through a QCTO-approved Assessment Quality Partner. This final assessment tests your competence against all exit-level outcomes.

✔️ Certification:
After successful completion of the EISA, the QCTO will issue your official Occupational Certificate, formally recognising you as a qualified Occupational Trainer.

🧾 Note: The EISA is overseen by a registered assessor and administered at an accredited venue. The QCTO issues the final certificate upon successful completion.

Haashirah Sayeed

Haashirah is a seasoned expert in training and development with a career spanning over two decades. Beginning in 1996 at RCI, she honed her skills in the timeshare industry before moving into management at Merchants, where she oversaw call centers for major South African brands like SBSA, Vodacom, and MTN. Transitioning to IT and software training in 2008 with Law Active (now E4 Strategic), Haashirah spent 16 years delivering national training on software solutions for conveyancers and major banks.

She played a pivotal role in developing client-driven products, managing the Training Academy, and pioneering the company’s first online learning platform using an LMS system for seamless webinar-based training. Her passion for education is evident in her design of a 101-conveyancing course and her ongoing commitment to empowering others through impactful, innovative training solutions.
