How you will learn:

This programme is designed for aspiring or current coaches, mentors, or learning facilitators who want to develop practical, accredited skills in a focused and flexible format. It combines expert-led guidance with blended learning to help you apply coaching and mentoring techniques confidently and effectively in real-world learning and workplace environments.

Blended learning with expert-led sessions and practical application in coaching and mentoring contexts


📚 Notional Hours:

150 notional hours combining theory, practice, and structured learner support activities


🕒 Contact Time:

6 hours of online facilitator-led sessions over 3 days, with 27 days of preparation for assessment


📝 Assessment Duration:

Final assessment includes a 2-hour observation-based component and submission of evidence through your chosen digital format (e.g. video or documents)


📄 Certification Outcome:

Receive a Statement of Results issued by the ETD Quality Assurance Partner (QAP)

Understand the core principles, roles, and boundaries of coaching and mentoring within the Occupational Learning System (OLS).

🧭 Module 2: Conduct a Needs Analysis and Develop an Individual Development Plan
Learn how to identify learner needs and create tailored development plans that guide growth and performance improvement.

🤝 Module 3: Provide Guidance and Coaching
Develop the skills to engage, support, and empower learners through meaningful, structured conversations and interventions.

📝 Module 4: Recording and Reporting
Maintain clear, accurate records of coaching or mentoring sessions, learner progress, and the guidance provided.

📈 Module 5: Evaluate and Review for Improvement
Review the effectiveness of your coaching and mentoring, gather feedback, and make improvements to support continuous learner development.

What to Expect from the Assessment Process:

Your journey to certification includes the following assessment steps:

✔️ Formative Assessments:
Throughout the programme, you’ll complete practical activities and reflections that demonstrate your ability to apply coaching and mentoring skills effectively.
✔️ Final Integrated Summative Assessment (FISA):
After training, you’ll submit a final assessment that includes evaluated documentation from your coaching or mentoring sessions and a demonstration of your approach via observation or video.
✔️ Portfolio of Evidence (PoE):
You will compile a structured PoE that includes development plans, session records, progress tracking, and evaluation tools aligned to programme outcomes.
✔️ Assessment Submission Format:
Assessment evidence can be uploaded via video clips or other approved digital formats to the Learning Management System (LMS) or shared directly with your assessor.
✔️ Certification:
Upon successful completion, you will receive a Statement of Results issued by the ETD Quality Assurance Partner (QAP).

Janelle Gravett

Education, training & development practitioner

Janelle has been involved in the skills development area in industry sectors such as hospitality, travel, mining, manufacturing, business process outsourcing and services (BPS & O) and education and skills development.

She has a wealth of experience in learning and development methodologies and is an expert in the skills development legislation. ​ She is an Assessor, Moderator and Skills development Facilitator and works with a number of different SETAs.​

She has been part of the QCTO occupational qualification development team for SDF Administrator and Practitioner and part of the development team for the Contact Centre manager Occupational qualification. Currently Janelle is part of the CEP team for the development of the Occ Qualification for Sales and Marketing. ​
