How you will learn:

This programme is designed for aspiring or current assessors who need to gain practical, accredited experience in a short period of time. It combines expert-led guidance with flexible, blended learning to help you apply what you learn immediately and confidently within your field of expertise.

Blended learning with flexible online sessions and expert-led facilitation


📚 Notional Hours:

150 notional hours including guided learning, practice activities, and preparation for final assessment


🕒 Contact Time:

6 hours of online contact sessions spread over 3 days, with 27 days of independent portfolio and assessment preparation


📝 Assessment Duration:

Final assessment includes 2 hours of observed assessment practice and submission of documentation within 4 weeks


📄 Certification Outcome:

Receive a Statement of Results issued by the ETD Quality Assurance Partner (QAP)

Understand the purpose and principles of outcomes-based assessment and its role in learner development and qualification achievement.

Learn how to develop assessment plans that align with unit standards or qualifications and prepare resources for implementation.

👥 Module 3: Prepare the Candidate for Assessment
Explore strategies for briefing candidates, managing expectations, and creating an enabling assessment environment.

📝 Module 4: Conduct Assessment and Document Evidence
Execute the assessment using appropriate methods, record evidence accurately, and follow procedural guidelines.

📊 Module 5: Evaluate Evidence and Make Assessment Judgement
Interpret assessment evidence against outcomes and criteria to make consistent and defensible assessment decisions.

💬 Module 6: Provide Feedback on Assessment
Develop effective feedback techniques to support learner growth and ensure clarity on assessment outcomes.

🔁 Module 7: Review Assessment
Reflect on the assessment process, identify areas for improvement, and contribute to maintaining quality standards.

Entry Requirements

To enrol in this qualification, you should:

✔️ You are involved in training, coaching, facilitation, or workplace learning
✔️ You are ready to assess learners against unit standards, qualifications, or other formal learning outcomes

What to Expect from the Assessment Process:

Your journey to certification includes the following assessment steps:

✔️ Formative Assessment:
Throughout the programme, you will complete assessment activities to demonstrate understanding of assessment planning, evidence gathering, and judgment.
✔️ Final Integrated Summative Assessment (FISA):
Within four weeks of completing the training, you will undergo a 2-hour observed assessment where you apply the full assessment process in real time. ✔️ Portfolio of Evidence (PoE):
You’ll compile a comprehensive PoE that includes assessment plans, tools, evidence records, and feedback — demonstrating your ability to conduct valid, fair, and reliable assessments.
✔️ Document Review and Questioning:
Your assessor will evaluate all documentation and conduct questioning to test your applied knowledge and decision-making ability.
✔️ Certification:
Once competence is confirmed, you will receive a Statement of Results issued by the ETD Quality Assurance Partner (QAP).

One of Evelyn’s highlights is her contribution to the chapter titled “Design, develop and evaluate outcomes-based learning programmes” in the book A Basic Guide to Human Resources Management” published by Fleet Street publishers​

Janelle Gravett

Education, training & development practitioner

Janelle has been involved in the skills development area in industry sectors such as hospitality, travel, mining, manufacturing, business process outsourcing and services (BPS & O) and education and skills development.

She has a wealth of experience in learning and development methodologies and is an expert in the skills development legislation. ​ She is an Assessor, Moderator and Skills development Facilitator and works with a number of different SETAs.​

She has been part of the QCTO occupational qualification development team for SDF Administrator and Practitioner and part of the development team for the Contact Centre manager Occupational qualification. Currently Janelle is part of the CEP team for the development of the Occ Qualification for Sales and Marketing. ​
