overview

Learners accessing this programme will be involved in project management teams or involved in building small project management teams. These projects may be technical projects, business projects or developmental projects and will cut across a range of economic sectors. This programme will also add value to learners who are running their own business and recognise that project management forms an integral component of any business.

Learners accessing this programme will be working as a leader in the context of a small project / sub-project involving few resources and having a limited impact on stakeholders and the environment or working as a contributing team member on a medium to large project when not a leader.

the purpose of the qualifications

The purpose of this programme is to enable learners to support the project environment and activities to deliver project objectives. Also to apply a range of project management tools and to implement project administration processes according to requirements.

On completion of this programme learners will be able to:

  • Identify project types & nature and guiding on appropriate project strategies and tactics
  • Suggest appropriate structures, methods and processes to projects
  • Check and verify that a project environment is established
  • Evaluate, record and consolidate from project experiences & update standard structures and processes
  • Execute processes and standards to support project change control & configuration management
  • Update and communicate status of change requests
  • Administer the project library/repository to support change to affected items
  • Maintain project organisational information
  • Demonstrate an understanding of project management tools and techniques
  • Use a range of project management tools
  • Apply corrective action steps where project management tools and techniques usage problems occur

 Recognition of prior learning (RPL)

RPL against these unit standards are allowed. Application forms are available from our offices.

 Assessment

Formative assessment: Assessment activities are completed throughout the programme. Assessment activities include evaluating all documentation produced during the process and questioning to test knowledge and ability to apply.  This assessment leads to the Final Integrated Summative Assessment (FISA). 
Final integrated summative assessment: Portfolio of Evidence will be submitted within four weeks of completing the training. Assessment activities include evaluating project strategy, plan and closure report. Assessment evidence will be uploaded on the Learning Management System (LMS) platform, via a suitable medium, as per assessment guide.

 Online contact sessions

You will attend online sessions with a facilitator for the training and assessment preparation.  8 hours of contact time spread over 60 days and includes preparation for assessment.

Meet our SMEs

Janelle Gravett

Education, training & development practitioner
Janelle has been involved in the skills development area in industry sectors such as hospitality, travel, mining, manufacturing, business process outsourcing and services (BPS & O) and education and skills development. She has a wealth of experience in learning and development methodologies and is an expert in the skills development legislation. ​ She is an Assessor, Moderator and Skills development Facilitator and works with a number of different SETAs.​  She has been part of the QCTO occupational qualification development team for SDF Administrator and Practitioner and part of the development team for the Contact Centre manager Occupational qualification. Currently Janelle is part of the CEP team for the development of the Occ Qualification for Sales and Marketing. ​

Leandra van der Merwe

Education, training & development practitioner
Leandra started her career in training and development 25 years ago as a project manager. She qualified as Education Training and Development Practitioner in 2012. She has a BCom Degree in Industrial Psychology and various other qualifications in the field of project management and security.

She has assisted many companies with accreditation, learning material design and development as well as enhancing the learning culture through management development and skills development.​​Leandra is passionate about people development and her favourite quote is:​​“A day not spend learning is a day wasted.”​
