                                This qualification is designed for potential or existing trainers who are qualified technical or occupational experts,
                                who are equipped with the ability to deliver training in their specific field of expertise and who are responsible for
                                delivering occupational learning programmes to trainees in the workplace.

The Occupational Trainer is a qualified technical or occupational expert who is equipped with the ability to deliver training in their specific field of expertise. This qualification is aimed at potential or existing trainers who are responsible for delivering occupational learning programmes to trainees in the workplace. The occupational trainer must have current knowledge of the industry, the workplace and job/role of the person being trained and assessed.

the purpose of the qualifications


The purpose of this qualification is to:

  • Build and maintain the quality of provision of workplace training, given the important role it has to play more broadly within occupational training.
  • Raise the status of those who facilitate learning in an industry or trade context.
  • Begin a process for the on-going professional development of occupational education and training practitioners.

Entry requirements

It is assumed that learners entering this programme are competent NQF Level 4, with technical or occupational expertise and will act as a trainer of persons in the same field of expertise.

On completion of this qualification, you will be able to:

  1. Establish the profile, special needs and barriers to learning of learners within the specified requirements of the training programme.
  2. Prepare, adapt and align learning materials and resources for a training intervention in the workplace.
  3. Deliver training, evaluate and report on a learning intervention in the workplace.
  4. Gather evidence and make assessment decisions using given assessment tools.

 Recognition of prior learning (RPL)

RPL for access to the qualification: Khulisane and approved workplaces may recognise prior learning against the relevant access requirements. Application forms are available from our offices.
RPL for access to the external integrated summative assessment: Khulisane and workplaces must confirm prior learning by issuing a statement of result or certifying a work experience record.

 Assessment

Internal assessment: Portfolio of evidence will be submitted per programme schedule after the training of each module. Assessment activities include evaluating all documentation produced during the process and questioning to test knowledge and ability to apply.  This assessment leads to entrance into the External Integrated Summative Assessment (EISA). 
EISA: The EISA is conducted by an assessor, through the relevant QCTO Assessment Quality Partner (AQP) at an approved assessment centre.  The QCTO issues of the qualification certificate. The EISA focusses on the exit level outcomes and associated assessment specifications. 

 Online contact sessions

You will attend online sessions with a facilitator for the training of each module, assessment preparation and work experience discussions.

Haashirah Sayeed

Haashirah is a seasoned expert in training and development with a career spanning over two decades. Beginning in 1996 at RCI, she honed her skills in the timeshare industry before moving into management at Merchants, where she oversaw call centers for major South African brands like SBSA, Vodacom, and MTN. Transitioning to IT and software training in 2008 with Law Active (now E4 Strategic), Haashirah spent 16 years delivering national training on software solutions for conveyancers and major banks. She played a pivotal role in developing client-driven products, managing the Training Academy, and pioneering the company’s first online learning platform using an LMS system for seamless webinar-based training. Her passion for education is evident in her design of a 101-conveyancing course and her ongoing commitment to empowering others through impactful, innovative training solutions. As Confucius said, “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life”—a sentiment that Haashirah embodies every day.
